Bloggers - How you can benefit with these top 10 techniques
In every bloggers life comes a special day - the day they first launch a new blog. Now unless you went out and purchased someone else''s blog chances are your blog launched with only one very loyal reader - you. Maybe a few days later you received a few hits when you told your sister, father, girlfriend and best friend about your new blog but that''s about as far you went when it comes to finding readers.
Here are the top 10 techniques new bloggers can use to find readers. These are tips specifically for new bloggers, those people who have next-to-no audience at the moment and want to get the ball rolling. It helps if you work on this list from top to bottom as each technique builds on the previous step to help you create momentum.
Eventually once you establish enough momentum you gain what is called "traction", which is a large enough audience base (about 500 readers a day is good) that you no longer have to work too hard on finding new readers. Instead your current loyal readers do the work for you through word of mouth.
10 Tips
10.Write at least five major "pillar" articles. A pillar article is usually a tutorial style article aimed to teach your audience something. Generally they are longer than 500 words and have lots of very practical tips or advice. This article you are currently reading could be considered a pillar article since it is very practical and a good "how-to" lesson. This style of article has long term appeal, stays current (it isn''t news or time dependent) and offers real value and insight. The more pillars you have on your blog the better.
9.Write one new blog post per day minimum. Not every post has to be a pillar, but you should work on getting those five pillars done at the same time as you keep your blog fresh with a daily news or short article style post. The important thing here is to demonstrate to first time visitors that your blog is updated all the time so they feel that if they come back tomorrow they will likely find something new. This causes them to bookmark your site or subscribe to your blog feed.
You don''t have to produce one post per day all the time but it is important you do when your blog is brand new.
Once you get traction you still need to keep the fresh content coming but your loyal audience will be more forgiving if you slow down to a few per week instead.
The first few months are critical so the more content you can produce at this time the better.
8.Use a proper domain name. If you are serious about blogging be serious about what you call your blog. In order for people to easily spread the word about your blog you need an easily rememberable domain name. People often talk about blogs they like when they are speaking to friends in the real world (that''s the offline world, you remember that place right?) so you need to make it easy for them to spread the word and pass on your URL.
Try and get a .com if you can and focus on small easy to remember domains rather than worry about having the correct keywords (of course if you can get great keywords and easy to remember then you''ve done a good job!).
7.Start commenting on other blogs. Once you have your pillar articles and your daily fresh smaller articles your blog is ready to be exposed to the world. One of the best ways to find the right type of reader for your blog is to comment on other people''s blogs.
You should aim to comment on blogs focused on a similar niche topic to yours since the readers there will be more likely to be interested in your blog. Most blog commenting systems allow you to have your name/title linked to your blog when you leave a comment. This is how people find your blog.
If you are a prolific commentor and always have something valuable to say then people will be interested to read more of your work and hence click through to visit your blog.
6.Trackback and link to other blogs in your blog posts. A trackback is sort of like a blog conversation. When you write a new article to your blog and it links or references another blogger''s article you can do a trackback to their entry. What this does is leave a truncated summary of your blog post on their blog entry - it''s sort of like your blog telling someone else''s blog that you wrote an article mentioning them. Trackbacks often appear like comments.
This is a good technique because like leaving comments a trackback leaves a link from another blog back to yours for readers to follow, but it also does something very important - it gets the attention of another blogger. The other blogger will come and read your post eager to see what you wrote about them. They may then become a loyal reader of yours or at least monitor you and if you are lucky some time down the road they may do a post linking to your blog bringing in more new readers.
5.Encourage comments on your own blog. One of the most powerful ways to convince someone to become a loyal reader is to show there are other loyal readers already following your work. If they see people commenting on your blog then they infer that your content must be good since you have readers so they should stick around and see what all the fuss is about.
To encourage comments you can simply pose a question in a blog post. Be sure to always respond to comments as well so you can keep the conversation going.
4.Submit your latest pillar article to a blog carnival. A blog carnival is a post in a blog that summarizes a collection of articles from many different blogs on a specific topic.
The idea is to collect some of the best content on a topic in a given week.
Often many other blogs link back to a carnival host and as such the people that have articles featured in the carnival enjoy a spike in new readers. To find the right blog carnival for your blog, do a search at http://blogcarnival.com/.
3. Submit your blog to blogtopsites.com.
To be honest this tip is not going to bring in a flood of new readers but it''s so easy to do and only takes five minutes so it''s worth the effort.
Go to Blog Top Sites, find the appropriate category for your blog and submit it. You have to copy and paste a couple of lines of code on to your blog so you can rank and then sit back and watch the traffic come in.
You will probably only get 1-10 incoming readers per day with this technique but over time it can build up as you climb the rankings. It all helps!
2.Submit your articles to EzineArticles.com.
This is another tip that doesn''t bring in hundreds of new visitors immediately (although it can if you keep doing it) but it''s worthwhile because you simply leverage what you already have - your pillar articles.
Once a week or so take one of your pillar articles and submit it to Ezine Articles. Your article then becomes available to other people who can republish your article on their website or in their newsletter.
How you benefit is through what is called your "Resource Box". You create your own resource box which is like a signature file where you include one to two sentences and link back to your website (or blog in this case).
Anyone who publishes your article has to include your resource box so you get incoming links. If someone with a large newsletter publishes your article you can get a lot of new readers at once.
1.Write more pillar articles. Everything you do above will help you to find blog readers however all of the techniques I''ve listed only work when you have strong pillars in place. Without them if you do everything above you may bring in readers but they won''t stay or bother to come back. Aim for one solid pillar article per week and by the end of the year you will have a database of over 50 fantastic feature articles that will work hard for you to bring in more and more readers.

I have learned absolutely loads since launching this blog last October. This blog continues to dominate all the major search engines but it has been through sheer hard work.You can just type 'bonnies affiliate marketing solution' into the search engines at any given time to see how I am doing that day. It is all very interesting.
It is also very apparent to myself that making money is certainly not as easy as they say it is.I was very lucky indeed to have made my first sale within 3 months. I have read loads of emails from other bloggers who have spent up to 5 years trying to make their first sale.
It was my intention from the start to only promote free or very low cost programs because I know, if you are like me, you do not have hundreds and thousands of dollars to spare. I can also confirm that this viral system has indeed sent a lot of traffic to my blog.
Another interesting thing I learned from viralurl is that when I gave a choice for people to either click on to a link to pay full price for a program or a link for a $10 reduction, the most clicks were on the link to pay full price. Maybe I should double the price!
It is so true that people love free info. I found many clicks on links that related to free articles with interesting topics. This really suprised me as it is in my post 'Free links to viral branded ebooks/articles/free package giveaways, etc.' - 16 March '08. which contains many links. check it out. I am adding free articles all the time.
Also in this post you can click on to a few different 'free ad' sites and submit your blog or website to multiple search engines.

Variety is the spice of life.
My aim was always to bring a huge variety to my blog so there is bound to be something of interest for everyone. There are also video programs because that is the way to go now. Video is now big so I knew I needed to include this sort of stuff also. I realise we need to keep up or be left behind.
As I have said in previous posts, I have done all the hard work, brain storming and mental torture! so you don't have to. I wish I had had something like this....I would have been saved months and months of very hard work and gruelling research.
Affiliate Cash Secrets
This was one of the first programs I put on my blog last October and it is still going strong. I get info. most days in my inbox about this program so it has really stood the test of time. This blog started from having been to an entrepreneurs bootcamp in the UK last year so some of my programs are from top internet markers who I was lucky enough to see and hear.

When I got a chance to promote another of their programs, I am afraid they were swiftly deleted from my emai list. This was a shame because I had launched their program, got many hits and wasted mine and other people's time because the link was wrong.
There is probably a good lesson to be learned there.
Anyway, my blog has had a certain amount of success from the start so it is really gratifying to see that all my hard work is paying off.
I will continue bring variety to my blog and will also strive to promote brand new programs.

So, what is the worse advice I have received so far?
One of the top marketing gurus I deal with suggested joining up to My Space and Facebook and said it was the best way to get your business known. So I did this.....the result being that I had some nutcase contact me who kept on about getting married, having a mother for his kid and that he just wanted somebody to love and to love him. How sweet you may think. But he just kept on saying the same things even after I pointed out I only went on 'there' to market my affiliate blog and that I did not want to get married...etc., (besides the fact I am in the UK and he was in Miami). I also doubted that he was the high powered businessman he made himself out to be because it was almost impossible to make sense of his jumbled up emails.
The experience really shook me up and I immediately deleted my account.So a harsh lesson learned there then.
Beware of offers using 'coupon codes'.
A couple of days ago I was nearly stung for forking out $97 a month. I keep getting offers using coupon codes, saying I could get the item free or for $1. I went through with one as it was for 218 plr articles for $1. I went to the payment page and only just noticed in very small letters that I would be charged for further months at $97. I immediately cancelled the transaction. Now every time an offer from this person comes into my inbox I delete it without reading it. I would delete this person altogether but am an affiliate to one of their products (maybe I should rethink this also - I wll see how it goes).

Overall Quality
The first thing I noticed when I opened up the first video was the stunning production quality.He used Camtasia Studio for the production, which is now the industry standard for creating high-quality screen capture video products. The audio is near studio quality, and the graphics are very professional. These videos were made by someone who KNOWS what he's doing. Well done!
I also liked how Michael divided the videos up by section, and then again by sub-section. For example, one video is all about the subject line, and then there are different parts of that video that each cover a certain area of crafting a killer subject line.
Now let's move onto...
THE ACTUAL VIDEOS
Here's a brief summary of each video. Obviously it's impossible to list every single thing here, but I want you to get a feel for what each one covered, and how well it covered it.

This video served as an introduction to the whole course. You get to see a picture of Michael in his every day life, and he establishes his credibility right up front by talking about some of his massive successes online. He even provides proof of credibility by displaying two checks in the amount of $50,000 and $25,000 which prove that, when it comes to the subject of making money with email promos, he knows his stuff.
This is a good lesson for anyone to get. Whenever you're teaching people how to do something, it's good to establish your credibility up front, sot hat there's no doubt about whether or not you're qualified to talk about the subject. Most product developers either skip or minimize this step.
VIDEO 2 - BEFORE YOU WRITE THE PROMO
This video talks about some things that no other marketer has bothered to mention. You'll learn things like:
* The mindset you need in order to write a killer promo
* The different tools you need before you get started
* How to keep your emails laser-focused
* How to create an outline that practically writes the email for you.
This was a fantastic video, and did a good job of kicking things off.
VIDEO 3 - THE SUBJECT LINE
I liked this video, because it talked about one of MY biggest weaknesses when it comes to writing email promos... the subject line. The subject line is a confusing topic, because nobody's 100% sure what the best tactics are.
Michael breaks it down, and reveals:
* The biggest secret for writing a subject line that makes people insanely curious.
* Techniques for personalizing the subject line.
* Mistakes to avoid when using personalization.
I was surprised to find that I was making some of the mistakes that Michael mentioned in this video, but now I know better.
VIDEO 4 - THE OPENING
This is where a lot of people slack off when writing their emails. Michael talks about how important it is to create an opening that is conversational, and then reveals techniques and examples on how to do that.
He also reveals:
* How to get people to keep reading your email once they've opened it.
* How to make your opening interesting.
* Mistakes to avoid when creating your first few paragraphs.
VIDEO 5 - THE BODY COPY
This is one of the "meatiest" portions of the course, because it reveals techniques that are not widely discussed on the forums, blogs, and in most eBooks. He talks about the importance of keeping your body copy tight and relevant, and then reveals how you can do that.
You'll also learn:
* How to write powerful bullets that make people curious and want to find out more.
* Simple formatting tricks for making your body copy easy to read.
* The secret of "bucket brigade copy" and how to use it in your email promos to force people to keep reading.
VIDEO 6 - THE CALL TO ACTION
This is where a lot of people wimp out in their email promos. They start out strong, but when it comes time to ask the reader to click the link and take action, they don't know what to say. Michael talks about some of his favorite techniques for making that happen, and also reveals:
* The "magic question" to ask yourself that will make your close much more powerful.
* The secret of the "unanswered question" and why handling this is a surefire way to get people to act right away.
* The structure of a powerful close.

Some people say that the P.S. is one of the most important parts of the email, because it is often the one thing that gets people to click the link at the end. In this video, Michael talks about:
* Why you should including a P.S. at the end of your email.
* The 4 different kinds of P.S.'s you can use (this section was a real eye-opener for me).
VIDEO 8 - COMMON MISTAKES PEOPLE MAKE
I loved this video, because it showed me some mistakes that I was making that I wasn't even aware of. Unless you're a seasoned pro, you're probably guilty of some of the things that Michael talks about in this video as well, and that's why it's so valuable. I've shaved years off my learning curve, because now I can avoid some of the costly mistakes that I was bound to make in the learning process.
VIDEO 9 - HOW TO CREATE FOLLOW-UP EMAIL PROMOTIONS
This video alone is going to make me a lot of money. Why? Because I used to only send out one e mail promo for each affiliate promotion I was doing. Michael showed me in this video how important it is to send a follow-up promotion, and he showed me exactly how to do it. He covered things like:
* The psychology of follow-up email promo's.
* The 2 main types of follow-up promos that make the most money.
* How to overcome readers' objections in your follow up emails.
* The 2 most common mistakes people make when writing follow-ups and how to avoid them.
VIDEO 10 - HOW TO WRITE BACK END EMAIL PROMOTIONS
Every marketing guru out there says that the REALmoney is on the back end. I'd have to agree with them, but the problem is... most people have noidea how to set up a back end system that makes money. This video will teach you how to set up an automated back end that's loaded with killer promos that make you lots of cash on autopilot.

Let's face it, if you only have 3 products, can you really afford to only email your list 3 times a year? They'll get bored hearing about the same old products over and over again. This video sheds some light on how to create killer affiliate promos.
